Setting the pace for access, innovation and excellence

Other institutions talk about increasing access to higher education, but few institutions can match the accomplishments of National University. In the past few years the award-winning University has earned substantial recognition for placing nontraditional students within reach of undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Founded in 1971, National was among the first institutions in the United States to recognize and focus on the unique educational needs of non-traditional learners. Since then, it has grown to become California's second-largest non-profit, private university, with the nation's largest graduate program.

The University's intensive, one-course-per-month format and flexible online-degree programs enable students to complete graduate and undergraduate programs in an accelerated time frame while maintaining family and work responsibilities. This unique approach has had a profound impact on key professions, including teaching, where higher education has struggled to keep pace with demand.

The University provides students more than 60 relevant, career-focused graduate and undergraduate degree programs. Students take classes at any of 30 campuses in 13 major-metropolitan areas in California, Nevada and Hawaii. The University is also a leader in online-education delivery, offering more than 35 online-degree programs.

National University participates in the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, which recognizes leadership, quality and overall organizational performance results. In 2002 and 2003, the University earned the Eureka Award for Performance Excellence (also known as the "Baby Baldrige Award") from the California Council for Excellence.

In addition to its locations in Nevada and Hawaii, the University open academic centers in 2005 in Ontario, Oxnard and Los Angeles, California. The National University presence in Henderson, Nevada, will be expanded to include a full complement of programs at a progressive and unique campus that will ultimately become a model university for the 21st Century.
