Unparallelled access and opportunities for young learners
According to March 2005 federal study, titled "Distance Education Courses for Public Elementary and Secondary School Students," nearly three in four public school districts across the United States plan to offer or expand distance education programs in the near future. The report also noted that almost half (48 percent) of the districts with distance education students had students enrolled in programs developed and delivered by postsecondary institutions.
A pioneer in developing online programs for undergraduate and graduate college students, the National University System established the National University Virtual High School to meet the rising demand for high-quality, affordable and accessible online courses for high school students. NUVHS offers a unique, high-quality curriculum and supplemental programs serving a range of online learners. So far, it has been well-received by a broad spectrum of students and parents, as well as by partnering schools looking to enhance curricular offerings.
Instructor-led, online high school courses are presented in an engaging, interactive learning environment. All courses meet the California content standards for public schools and are equivalent to a semester-length high school class. Depending on the format, an NUVHS course can be completed in as few as four or as many as 16 weeks. In addition, NUVHS offers tutoring services over the Internet and at several National University locations throughout California.
With 24/7 access to their virtual classrooms, along with 24/7 technical support available from Spectrum Pacific Learning Company, an affiliate of the National University System, NUVHS students are provided the means to succeed in their courses.
